A world completely without waste - that would be nice.

To turn this vision into reality, we all need to pitch in.

These points can help to strengthen the Zero-Waste Topic.

A.   Avoid unnecessary plastic

By rethinking how products are designed, delivered and consumed, we can change our habits and switch to alternatives. Small items (such as a single apple) really don't need to and shouldn't be packed in anExtra plastic bag. Again, as a reminder:

Single-use plastic products account for 40% of the plastic produced each year.

B. Double the global plastic recycling rate.

If the plastic recycling rate were doubled, the rate of leftover, unrecycled plastic could be reduced tremendously.

The more plastic that is recovered, the more plastic can be reused (possibly multiple times). This saves money and energy, and the environment benefits as well.

C.   Switch to more sustainable sources of plastic

Plastic occupies an important role in our economy. But its dependence on oil, gas and coal has dire and irreversible consequences for the environment. It is a necessary to find alternatives.

These could be, for example:

● Compostable plastic (turns into compost over time).

● Biodegradable plastic (made from natural materials).
